Listen to a group of women singing a familiar melody in close, four-part harmony without any accompaniment, and what do you have? A Sweet Adelines chorus singing barbershop style!
Summer Sing Fling starts Tuesday, July 11
Want to find out what women’s a cappella singing is all about? Have a Summer Sing Fling with us! For six weeks, July 11 through August 15, sing with us on Tuesday evenings! Rehearsals are just one hour long, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (But plan to get there at 6:15, because we need you to be singing that whole hour!) We’ll learn two songs, “Shenandoah” and “Mister Sandman.” Incidentally, we’ll also learn vocal techniques that will make you a better singer, no matter what kind of singing you like to do. The ability to read music is admired, but not required — we’ll supply you with sheet music and a learning CD for your part. Plan to practice at home with your CD. Cost is $10 for the six-week session, which covers the music and CD. On August 15, we’ll have a little “Friends and Family” performance to show off what we’ve learned. Summer Sing Fling happens at our rehearsal hall, the Bay Area Activity Center, 886 South 4th St. (at Ingersoll) in Coos Bay. All women over 16 are welcome. Girls under 16 are welcome to sing if their adult attends the rehearsal. Got questions? Call director Gail Elber at 541-808-1773, or use the email form below.
Although Coos Bay/North Bend is our chorus home, the members of Sea Breeze Harmony come from all over the county…Coos Bay, North Bend, Bandon, Coquille, Myrtle Point and also reaching to Port Orford, Lakeside and Reedsport. All ages and a variety of backgrounds are among our membership. We share a bond through the love of music, learning, performance, and competition.
We love guests! If you like to sing and want to share a great evening of harmonizing, please drop by any Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and visit us at Harmony Hall, 2055 Union Avenue, North Bend. Women of all ages are welcome.
